Independence Square is in the heart of Sofia. It is also called Largo / Plostad Nezavisimost/ and three imposing classic style edifices, fine examples of the architectural from the Socialism period. There you will see Sofia's central department store /TZUM/, the former Communist Party building, the Presidency and the Council of Ministers. In close proximity to the Independence Square, you can visit the Roman Rotunda and don’t miss to light a candle in St.Nedelya Church just opposite the luxurious Sheraton Hotel.

Alexander Nevski Cathedral, the biggest Orthodox Church on the Balkan Peninsula, lies at the Square, bearing the same name. Alexander Nevski Square is centrally located and it is one of Sofia's emblems. It is a spacious cobblestone area with a fascinating daily flea market. Visit also St.Sofia church, the monument of the Unknown Soldier, the grave of Ivan Vazov.

Alexander Battenberg Square (Knyaz Alexander Battenberg) is the largest square of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. It was named after the first prince of post-liberated Bulgaria. To the north side of the Alexander Battenberg Square the imposing edifice of the former Tsar Palace /Royal Palace/ lies. Nowadays it is home to the National Art Gallery and the Ethnographic Museum.

Orlov Most is a bridge over the Perlovska River in the centre of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. It gives the name to the important and busy juncture at which it is located. The name of the bridge itself comes from the four statues of eagles on it, which are, symbolically, its protectors and patrons.
