The Cathedral of St.Joseph is a Roman cathedral in Sofia city and it is the biggest catholic temple in Bulgaria.
Banya Bashi Mosque |
It was designed in 1576 by the great Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan, who also built the Sultan Selim Mosque in Edirne and the "Blue Mosque" in Istanbul. The mosque takes its name from the nearby "Tsentralnata Banya (Central Baths), Banya Bashi means 'allot of baths'. The mosque is not officially open to tourist's, but they are welcome to visit outside of prayer times, including women, if modestly dressed. The interior of the mosque is decorated with fine calligraphy, citing texts from the Koran, as the portrayal of human figures is banned in Islamic art.

The Jewish synagogue in Sofia is situated in the very heart of Sofia city. It is the third largest in Europe, following the synagogues in Budapest and Amsterdam.
